LORABID

Q. What is Lorabid?
A. Lorabid is an antibiotic capsule in the cephalosporin family of drugs (similar to Ceftin and Ceclor)
  
Q. For what is Lorabid prescribed?
A. It is most commonly used to treat upper respiratory infections (Strep, throat, sinusitis), bronchitis, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections (bladder or kidney).
  
Q. How does Lorabid work?
A. Antibiotics like Lorabid interfere with the bacterial germ's ability to reproduce itself and grow, which allows your body's immune system time to coat and destroy the invading germs.
  
Q. When do I take Lorabid?
A. Lorabid should be taken on an empty stomach, either one hour before or two hours after a meal, to obtain the most benefit. The usual prescription calls for two doses per day, once in the morning and once at night.
  
Q. Are there any medical conditions that I might have that I need to discuss with my doctor before I take Lorabid?
A. Tell your physician if you have or have had kidney disease. Your dosage may need to be adjusted.
